Postcards

Starting in the summer of 2005, SSF has been burning biodiesel in its tractor (100% when temps are above 50 degrees, 20% or less when colder).

A product made from waste frier grease that acts like diesel, is cleaner burning, increases engine longevity, and is better to have burning over the veggies.

In a dark space of the shed rests the biolab where we process the slimy stuff. After months of research I built the reactor and with help of friends we composed the whole lab. We process 40 gallon batches at a time, plenty for the tractor and a couple vehicles. Our used oil comes from Ambrosia's Pub and Grill in Amherst (2 miles away) and they've been very helpful, so eat your fish fries.

Mark says the tractor runs and smells great (not exactly French fries but way nicer than diesel fumes). We use an extensive cleaning process to make sure of quality. I've added a graphic of the basic technology to help the minds eye. I plan on having workshops that will involve making a batch and will help with any serious interest. If you have any questions or want to stop by and check it out please email me. Looking forward to another summer!

Thanks for the C in C.S.A
